An English writer accepts the job of chronicling the life of a mysterious entrepreneur, only to find himself losing touch with reality as he plunges down a rabbit hole filled with past demons, near-death experiences, psychedelics, mass weddings, Burning Man, and the obscure sport of 'tongue-darting'. Feeling compelled to learn more, he researches and finds online tidbits suggesting that The Kernal, whose real name we never discover, is or has been a race car driver, underwater cave explorer, Appalachian Trail hiker, serial entrepreneur, Israeli counter-terrorism trainee, multiple patent holder, well-known Burning Man camp founder and 13-time attendee, international sporting association chairman, and…father of three.

 

What follows immerses Lord Ealing in a strange, life-changing world of Croatian police encounters, psychedelic bike rides, Slovenian jail cells, 350lb numismatists, spiked absinthe, giant Polar bears, Miss Universe, and the warm embrace of a mysteriously open group of people who roam the planet causing mischief and playing practical jokes on themselves and the rest of humanity.

 

The odyssey will prove to have surprising ramifications as he is forced to come face to face with a difficult past full of death, delusions, and family secrets, while endeavoring to answer two burning questions. Is it really good to be forcibly thrust out of one’s comfort zone? And who the hell is this Kernal Angus guy? Is he truly the intrepid, prescient wizard many in his entourage might believe, or something...else?
